Hero & Heroine
Emma: an independent 19-year-old. She takes care of her daughter, Sasha and her 14-year-old brother. She works and goes to school full time to be a social worker. Her parents kicked her out when she was younger as they were very religious. She got her job working at the club as a waitress and lap dancer. The only time she ever goes in the back room is with Carson.
Carson Mathews: 21-year-old prized racer in the MotoGP circuit. He’s young and is seen with beautiful models and actresses. His mom was a single parent after his father left him when a younger woman. He has fame and money.
Carson and Emma met at the club she works at when she was only 16 and he was 18. On his birthday his friends took him out to the club, and he saw Emma. Their relationship started from there and after their first time together she got pregnant and didn’t tell him about the baby. His career was just starting out and he didn’t have the money or a team yet.
Since they meet Carson shows up every weekend at the club to see Emma. They have a relationship but they both don’t know it. Carson loves Emma and Emma loves him but there is a big secret that Emma is keeping from him.
It is obvious that Carson loves Emma by the extra money he gives her to help her out and the diamond butterfly necklace he got her for her birthday. However, Emma knows they can never be together because of her occupation and his celebrity status. She knows from seeing the tabloids that he hangs out with beautiful models and actresses, and she can never compete against those women.
It isn’t till later when a reporter discovers Emma’s secret and publishes it to the world.
Carson discovers he has a daughter, a 2-year-old little girl named Sasha. She is the spitting him of him with his blue eyes. He forces Emma to pack up her, Sasha’s and her brother’s things and says they are moving into his house and that they are getting married.
Some rude words are exchanged between the two of them during this transition period. Carson says all the wrong things, but his intentions are good.
Emma’s life is turned upside down as everyone now knows who she is and what she does. She is shunned from her Sasha’s daycare at her university. But she will do anything for her daughter and if that means moving in and marrying Carson then so be it.
Their relationship goes from bad but gets better as they navigate their new and exposed relationship.
Emma and Carson work out their kinks in their relationship. Everything is out in the open and they say the ‘I love you’ They do end up getting married but in their own way and not in some extravagant, expensive wedding. They marry in Vegas and live HEA.
As a surprise daddy romance, I did like this book. It was simple, fast read for me as I love sports romance and surprise baby daddy romances. I’ve read many books where the heroine works in a strip club just so she can afford to pay for her child, so that was quite common in these types of books. Their little girl Sasha was adorable. I love baby dialogue.
This was a gut/ heart wrenching read for me as Carson said some mean words to Emma.
Everyone had assumptions about Emma because of her job. His mother even said some means things about her. I think Emma took it like a champ and was able to rise above it all.
At the beginning of the book when Carson didn’t know about his daughter, I thought he was so sweet and did/ said all the right things. When he discovers he has a child, now he pissed me off and did/ said all the WRONG things.
