Hero & Heroine

Henry John Edgar Thomas Pembrook, Prince of Wessco: party prince, initially was the spare but his brother stepped down. Henry is wild and a manwhore… He has a reality TV show which is basically the bachelor where notable ladies come and compete for him. At the start of the book, he doesn’t take his role seriously but he probably has the most character development.

Sarah Mirabelle Zinnia Von Titebottum: a shy bookworm, who has no interest in being in the spotlight unlike her younger sister. She is incredibly shy and does not like the spotlight.

Backstory (Prologue)

The Queen has pressured Henry to take his role seriously and constantly critiques and ridicules him. He has had enough and is “banished” to another castle to take some time off to relax and regroup. However, he gets offered to be part of a reality TV called Matched – Royal Edition and agrees without the Queen knowing.

Sarah works at the library and needs to present a presentation in front of a group of people which she is not comfortable with. Her sister is offered a spot on a reality TV show to be part of the contestants to be Henry’s wife. However, their mother does not want Sarah’s younger sister to go off on her own as she tends to have terrible judgement which is why Sarah agrees to chaperone her. Sarah has no interests in being part of the show. She knows she does not look like any of them or what Henry’s typical type is.

Love Story

Henry sees Sarah alone reading on her own. She has an attachment to her books as her aunt gave them to her and she loves the smell of old books.

Henry is constantly drawn to her but never shows anything beyond friendship. He has a duty to uphold to the show because reality tv is never true or what it appears to be.

So, Henry flirts with all the ladies and seems to lead Sarah on. He sleeps in her room to have privacy and to connect with her.

They start their blooming relationship while Henry still flirts with other women.

Henry does something incredibly stupid and rips Sarah’s favorite book in pieces. Henry does not understand the impact his actions did to Sarah and he tries to rectify them and I think that is when the relationship goes to the next level.

Anyways, Sarah has a scarring past that continues to haunt her. Any loud crash always sends her to faint and black out for a moment. Henry notices and helps her.

The reason for these blackouts is because of her father. He was abusive towards her and her mother. He literally broke both of Sarah’s legs which is why she walks with a limp.

Henry starts to develop feelings for Sarah and doesn’t want to continue filming the show anymore. However, the producer has him under contract and footage of Sarah that she uses as blackmail if he doesn’t finish filming the show.

Lies and misunderstandings occur and Sarah leaves. The Queen also finds out and demands everyone to leave.

Ending

Couple weeks later Sarah presents her presentation in front of a bunch of people which is a huge step for her. Her prince shows up and apologizes and tells her he is going back into the military to connect with his people. Later on, she decides she will serve as well and will write letters to each other and wait for each other!!

My Opinion

I liked this book. It was like The Bachelor. But he fell for the underdog. Sarah’s backstory was very surprising. HEA.
